Environmental Impact Assessment Ireland

Organisations are becoming increasingly aware of their corporate responsibilities to the local communities and protecting the environment in which they work. Coupled with regulatory control, demonstrating a commitment to continuous environmental improvement has become a significant aspect of a company’s everyday activity. At ESP we have the expertise to assist organisations achieving continual improvement with the implementation, auditing and reporting of your environmental management systems. We can supply a range of environmental services to ensure environmental compliance is achieved in a sustainable and effective manner, through an Environmental Impact Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment (often referred as EIA) is a procedure and management technique, which ensures that the likely effects of new development on the environment are fully appraised and considered before the development is granted with planning permission. The procedure requires systematic analysis of the predicted effects of the project on the environment and these services allow preparation of an Environmental Statement that describes this. We have the experience and expertise to undertake a wide range of studies to satisfy the requirements of the EIA.
ESP is particularly accomplished in the supporting and the engineering design process, particularly relating to the impact on air, noise, ecology, and the ground and surface waters.
Understanding habitat characteristics and ecology is one of the cornerstones of environmental assessment. It forms an important part of conservation, as well as an essential consideration in all development and construction works.
ESP is dedicated to carrying out all projects and works adhering to the strictest of environmental best practices. ESP consultant Dr Stephen Rice, a Chartered Environmentalist, held the position of founder and Executive Director of the Wales Environment Trust from 1996 to 2002.
Our experience includes bat and badger surveys, and we have extensive experience in wet land ecology. We have managed the assessment of a large land reclamation scheme at the site of the former Merthyr Vale Colliery and our ecological and habitat assessments have formed the basis for key development decisions.
A selected list of example projects can be found on our Projects and Technical page. If you have any questions or enquiries please contact us.

I am a UK Registered Ground Engineering Specialist and Chartered Engineering & Environmental Geologist with significant experience in Site Hazard Assessment, Remediation, Design, and Implementation across the Geoenvironmental and Geotechnical sectors in the UK and abroad. I often work in multi-disciplinary teams advising other engineering and design professionals on the implications of ground hazards. My work involves undertaking design, planning, management, and reporting of ground investigations, including investigations for new developments, and many bespoke studies including the assessment of hydrogeological settings, materials for earthworks, the impact of abandoned mine workings, remediation and stability assessment of soil and rock slopes/landslides, most notably the Pantteg Landslide in the Swansea Valley for which I have guided and presented assessments to Local Authority officers and the general public. |
